Image quality

Bigger is safer

Our production standard is 150 dpi at full print size, which is 5965 × 4488 pixels on a large board. The upload tool measures your file and tells you where it stands. We also check every file by hand before production, and will contact you if the resolution or quality is not good enough.

File format

JPG, TIFF or PDF

Please upload a .JPG file, and do make sure you upload the highest quality file you have available. We accept other file types such as TIFF, SVG and PDF.

A board is a metre of steel on a wall, so it wants a bigger file than a screen does. Whatever you use, take the largest version offered — and if you are not sure, send it to us and we will measure it before you buy anything.

Generate, design, then enlarge

A board is a good reason to make something rather than buy it. The generators below will invent an image from a written description; the design tools will let you build one from type, pattern and your own photographs. One practical note: most generators still top out around 2048 to 4096 pixels, which is short of a large board, so plan on running the result through an enlarger before you upload.

Midjourney Still the most painterly. Renders at 2048 px square by default, upscalable further.
Google Gemini — Nano Banana Pro Outputs up to 4096 px and handles lettering well — the closest to board-ready.
Adobe Firefly Trained on licensed and public-domain material, which makes the commercial position simpler.
Ideogram The one to use when your image contains words and you want them spelled correctly.
Recraft Generates true vector artwork, so it scales to any board size without softening.
Build it

For type, pattern, collage and anything with your own photographs in it.

Canva The quickest route to a tidy layout. Set a custom canvas at the pixel size above.
Adobe Express Templates, backgrounds and one-click cutouts, free tier included.
