Choosing a board
Yes. Any ordinary ferrous magnet holds anywhere on the face, including fridge magnets, photo magnets and the ones that came free with the takeaway menu. Glass boards need neodymium magnets to hold anything at all, which is the most common reason customers come to us after buying one.
The surface is high-gloss dry erase. Only use dry-wipe pens and a dry micrfibre cloth. It will not ghost the way a laminated whiteboard does, because the surface is powder coated enamel onto steel rather than a printed film that wears through.
1.2 mm steel with a scratch-resistant enamel coating. The design is pressed into the coating, so it is part of the surface, not a sticker on top of it. Corners are radiused at 35 mm and the edges are finished, so there is nothing sharp.
Both, which is the point. Write on it, stick things to it with magnets, or do all three at once. A cork board only takes pins, a whiteboard only takes pens, and neither can carry a printed design.
Steel if you want to write and use magnets. Glass if you only ever write and will buy special magnets. Cork if you only ever pin. Steel is the only one of the three that does both jobs and can carry a printed design.
That depends on the magnet rather than the board. The face is 1.2 mm steel, so it holds whatever the magnet is capable of holding.
For a home we suggest traditional ferrite magnets — the ordinary kind. They are strong enough for photographs, postcards and a week of paperwork. Neodymium magnets are far stronger and worth thinking about twice indoors: they have been associated with interfering with pacemakers, and they are strong enough to trap a small finger between magnet and board.
Glass boards need special magnets to hold anything at all. That is the single most common reason customers come to us after buying one.
Sizes & formats
Three standard sizes, each available landscape or portrait: small 55 × 40 cm at £85, medium 75 × 55 cm at £110, and large 100 × 75 cm at £160. Portrait is the same board turned, so 40 × 55, 55 × 75 and 75 × 100 cm. Prices include VAT.
Large, 100 × 75 cm, for a household of four or more. Seven columns need the width to stay legible from across the kitchen, and a family week fills a medium by Wednesday. Medium suits a couple or a two-person rota; small works as a single list or a by-the-door board.
Small, 55 × 40 cm, is right for a shopping list, a hall board or a desk-height panel in a study. Medium is the usual choice for a home office project wall.
Landscape for anything with days across the top — weekly planners, rotas, timetables. Portrait for lists, menus and anything read top to bottom. Boards are pre-drilled for the orientation you order, so choose before you buy rather than turning it on the wall.
Not on single orders. We make three sizes — 55 × 40 cm, 75 × 55 cm and 100 × 75 cm — in landscape or portrait, and that is the full range for the shop. Cut to size is a business service on orders of 25 panels or more: a run of boards to fit between two windows, or a set of matching sizes across a building. Send the measurements through the contact page and we will quote it.
Personalisation & artwork
You add your names, dates or wording on the product page and we email a proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it. Once you have approved, personalised boards take five to seven working days.
JPEG, PNG or TIFF at 150 dpi at finished size, plus 5 mm bleed on every edge. For the large landscape board that is 5965 × 4488 px. The upload tool tells you the exact pixel size for the board you have chosen and checks what you send.
Because the print runs 5 mm past every edge and wraps the radius, so the file has to be bigger than the finished board. The crop you position in the tool is the part you keep — anything outside it is trimmed off in production.
We check every file by hand before it goes to print and will tell you if the resolution will not hold at size. A phone photograph is usually fine at small and medium; a screenshot or a social media download often is not.
Yes, and a lot of customers do. There is a library of forty ready-written prompts on the For Business page, covering planners, menus, safety boards and more. If you have a designer, use them — nothing beats artwork made for you — but AI gets you a board you are happy to hang when the budget will not stretch.
Delivery
Stock designs go out in three to five working days. Personalised and Create Your Own boards take five to seven working days from the moment you approve the proof. Everything is made to order, so nothing sits in a warehouse.
Delivery is charged extra at cost. We use premium, one to two day service. Highlands and islands are five to eight days. Delivery to your location is displayed at the checkout.
We ship to Europe and further afield on request. Rates depend on size and destination, so get in touch before ordering and we will quote it with the board.
Corner-protected and boxed flat with the fixings taped inside. If it arrives damaged, photograph the box before you unpack any further and we will replace it.
Fitting it to the wall
Boards arrive pre-drilled with fixings included: four screws, wall plugs and instructions. Masonry plugs are supplied as standard. For plasterboard walls, special fixings may be required, so please consult a trusted diy hardware supplier for advice for your particular application. The screw heads take a cover cap in white or black, so choose the one that disappears into your design.
It doesn’t stand off. The board screws flat to the wall and sits flush against it, with no gap.
Most people do. A drill, a level and twenty minutes. The pre-drilled holes set the spacing for you, so the only decision is height: hang the centre of the board at eye level, or align the top with a door frame or a run of units. Please read the instruction leaflet prior to hanging your board.
Many customers do. The product almost all of them settle on is 3M Command strips.
We cannot tell you how many to use, because it depends on your wall — paint, plaster, tile and wallpaper all hold differently, and only you can judge the surface you have. What we can give you is the weight. Every board's weight is in the specification on its product page: 1.6, 2.9 or 5.9 kg depending on size. Work the number of strips out from that and the manufacturer's stated hold.
Our own instinct is to overestimate. If the calculation says four, use six.
The same approach: an adhesive fixing rather than a screw. Command strips are the ones customers mention most often, but they are not the only option — there are plenty of heavy-duty adhesive pads and hangers about.
Take the weight from the product specification, check the manufacturer's guidance for your surface, and allow more than you think you need. If the wall is textured or recently painted, read that guidance carefully before committing.
Nothing sits in a warehouse and nothing is thrown away. Your board is pressed, printed and fired after you order it, in the West Country, by the people who designed it.
Living with it
Any standard dry-wipe marker. Do not use permanent markers, and avoid leaving a dry-wipe pen uncapped, which is what turns a good pen into a bad one.
No. Ghosting happens when ink soaks into a porous laminate. The enamel surface is fired and non-porous, so writing lifts cleanly even after a month.
Draw over the permanent marks with a dry-wipe pen and wipe both off together, or use a little isopropyl alcohol on a cloth. Neither will harm the coating.
A dry microfibre cloth for day to day. For kitchen grease, warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid, then dry it off. Do not use scouring pads, cream cleaner or anything abrasive.
Not in normal use. The coating is scratch resistant, but dragging a heavy magnet across the face rather than lifting it will mark any painted surface eventually. Lift, do not slide.
Returns & guarantee
You get 14 days to send back any unpersonalised board in its original packing for a full refund. Personalised boards cannot be resold, which is why we email a proof and will not press anything until you approve it.
Send us a photograph of the board and the box within 48 hours and we will remake it and ship the replacement. You do not need to return the damaged one first. If necessary we'll take care of the return at our cost.
Business orders
No. One board for a reception wall or fifty branded KPI trackers for a factory — both are made the same way, in the same place, to the same standard. There is no setup fee and no artwork charge.
Three to five working days for small business orders once artwork is approved. If you have a fixed date — an office move, a trade stand, a CQC inspection — tell us and we will confirm the date in writing before you commit.
Yes. At checkout you can either pay by card, which sends the board to production as soon as the proof is signed off, or raise a purchase order. A purchase order issues a proforma invoice against your PO reference, payable on your agreed terms, and we hold the job until it clears.
Business prices are shown ex VAT: £70.83 small, £91.67 medium, £133.33 large. VAT is added at checkout and your invoice carries our VAT number for reclaim.
Yes. Send a brand guideline, a RAL reference and we will do our best to match it on the proof. Please note that we use a CMYK colour process, so matching Pantone colours exactly requires proofing. If the shade is critical, ask for a printed sample before the full run.
Three. Send us a rough sketch and we will set it out for you. Use one of the forty AI prompts in our library, which are written to produce boards you can actually write on. Or brief a designer — if the budget allows, that is still the best result, and we will supply them with the exact dimensions and bleed.
You do not need one. The Create Your Own tool positions your file at print size with the bleed, the corner radius and the fixing positions already applied, and the artwork travels with the order into production. There is nothing to download and nothing to email separately.
Yes. We keep your artwork on file against the order, so a repeat is a phone call. Useful for multi-site rollouts where each branch orders in its own time.
Yes. Made to size is available for business orders over 25 panels — a run of boards to fit between two windows, a long thin panel above a workbench, a set of matching sizes across a building. Send the measurements and we will quote.
